Elske Willenborg

Elske has always been drawn to the world as it looks - the texture of a landscape, the mood of a city street, the particular quality of a face in a live sitting. She paints in oils, in rich colours with plenty of texture. 

 

Born near Amsterdam in 1962, Elske studied art history and fine art in the United States before falling in love with London, where she has lived and worked happily since 1985. A career in branding and design kept her creative instincts sharp, but painting was never far away. Now it’s front-and-centre;  figurative work that finds its inspiration in nature, land, cityscapes, and the quiet intimacy of painting someone from life.
