Fishponds Park is a nature reserve with a sloping meadow, scattered with old fruit trees, there are tall, great horse Chestnuts and Ash trees on one side. This meadow, full green in May, is charged with life and future blooming, poised to launch a multitude of summer flowers.
What were a few scattered longer stems, emerging above the shorter thicker grass, are now thronging, animated, packed out with dancing seed heads; visible like glitter and haze. There are specks of purple, and early in the morning the air is tinged with lilac and green.
