Thorpe Marshes is a short walk from my home located in the suburbs of Norwich. It is a small habitat located in-between the Gt. Yarmouth railway line and the river Yare. It is a man made broad created from gravel extraction. It has subsequently become an area rich in plant, bird and insect life. I often go there to walk as its rich biodiversity has become a favourite subject for my work. Flag Irises make their abundant appearance during the early weeks of May. This painting depicts one of the first to appear.
