Spring Shore captures the landscape of Birsay, Orkney. A place shaped by the meeting of land, sea and shifting skies. The painting depicts the quiet renewal of spring, where soft bright greens emerge and the shoreline begins to awaken after the harsher months. Layers of translucent colour create a sense of depth and atmosphere, echoing the changing light across the fields and coastal waters. The horizon acts as a point of stillness, while subtle marks and textures suggest movement in the landscape - wind, tides and the passing of time. This work explores a personal connection to Orkney, holding the memory of its open spaces, fragile beauty and enduring sense of space.
