I chose this view across a field of purple phacelia flowers hoping to see the full moon rise. I started painting before the moon was visible and was pleased that, when it eventually emerged from the cloud, it was very definitely the centre of attention.
There was a cuckoo calling in the distance and a badger trotted by a couple of times unbothered by me and my easel. Plein air painting in the countryside is a great way to experience nature and I have often seen badgers and barn owls up close when I’ve been painting at dusk.
