‘Take the days as they arrive’ explores the feeling of being out in the landscape, walking near my studio. I walk most days on The Ridgeway, an ancient path on the North Wessex Downs. It is crowned with beech copses running like horses manes across the tops of chalky downs, bushy hedgerows and rolling green pastures interspersed with yellow rapeseed fields. Rather than being a specific location, my work is painted as a memory of a place, a fleeting recollection of a view. I am fascinated by the boundaries, borders and edges found in landscape and my work often references this liminal space. The point between realism and abstraction, where shapes and marks create fleeting impressions of a subject.
