This painting is of one of my favourite spots in Edinburgh - the Water of Leith. The river flows through the middle of the city centre, and the path alongside it is somewhere I like to escape to from city noise and busy streets, as it offers a peaceful, green, and quiet space. The heron is one I often see when I walk alongside the river, standing in the place I’ve painted, which is right by a hidden spot with a bench, where you can sit undisturbed while observing the water and the wildlife surrounding it.
