I spent the day with my brother (& fellow painter), rambling around the Walthamstow Wetlands searching for the 'perfect' painting spot. It was during the May heatwave in London and there was no shade to be found anywhere, so despite discovering many interesting views, there was nowhere we could comfortably stop and paint. We ended up walking to Hackney, and as we'd been carrying our heavy backpacks around we decided to make the best of it and didn't want to leave without having made a painting. So, we set up our easels in London Fields, where there wasn't a square metre of ground without people on it, and I made a painting of everyone enjoying the early evening sun in the park.
