Andrew Gifford : Moss Light, Painting the Atlantic Rainforests

Moss Light is the culmination of a two year project spent tracing the remaining pockets of Atlantic rainforest that once cloaked the western coasts of Britain and Ireland. Painting beneath the shifting light of the forest canopy, Andrew Gifford travelled through Devon, Cornwall, Cumbria, Snowdonia, Argyll and West Cork, immersing himself in these extraordinary, ancient woodlands. From the gnarled oak canopies of Bodmin to the iridescent carpets of sphagnum moss in Ireland, Moss Light offers an evocative journey through some of Europes's rarest and most beautiful habitats.

The exhibition will be held at two locations: John Martin Gallery, 38 Albemarle St, London W1S 4JG and Frieze, No.9 Cork Street, London W1S 3LL. Both venues are free to visit and will be open Tuesday - Saturday 10am-6pm from 28th November until the 13th December (closed on Mondays).
