12 -28 JUNE, THE ALDEBURGH FESTIVALThe Aldeburgh Festival was founded in 1948 by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears and is now located in Snape Maltings. Celebrating its 75th Anniversary, the world famous Festival spans a rich variety of music from opera, orchestral and chamber music to newly commissioned pieces by Judith Weir and Unsuk Chin. Running in parallel are talks, events and exhibitions. To view the programme click here.21-22 JUNE, FIRST LIGHTIn the UK's most easterly beach, First Light Festival, Lowestoft offers a weekend packed with talks, visual arts events, music and performance. Visit the website23-26 JULY, LATITUDEAlongside Kasabian, Keane, Duran Duran and hundreds of performers, Latitude at Henham Park also offers excursions into comedy, theatre and dance. And if you don't want to camp they also sell day tickets so you can be fresh and fragrant for Rick Astley (on Saturday!). Visit the Website.GALLOPER SANDSGalloper Sands is located just four miles away from Spirit Studios by car, but only two miles by foot which will take you on an incredible walk down to the beautiful Upper Alde Valley (you are welcome to leave your car with us). Galloper Sands offers not only great exhibitions but also a unique artist residency programme linking exhibitions with the surrounding landscape as well as conservation projects underway on the farm. Details at Galloper SandsTHE THORINGTON OPEN AIR THEATRENestled in the Suffolk woods, 20 minutes away from Spirit Studios, the Thorington Theatre was created on the foundations of a WWII bomb crater and provides an ever-changing line up of theatre, opera, comedy, poetry and story-telling. Husk (see ‘Plan your Visit) can also provide a pre-theatre picnic.
