Bethan Harris b. 2000
Bethan Harris is a Somerset-based artist working primarily in drawing and painting. A graduate of Newcastle University (BA Fine Art, 2022), she has exhibited across the UK, including at the Royal Academy of Arts, Mall Galleries, and the OXO Tower in London. In 2024, she received the Young Person’s Prize for the Derwent Art Prize and was shortlisted for the North East Emerging Artist Award 2025.
Her practice centres on intuitive, repetitive mark-making, using colour to construct imagined landscapes that sit between observation and abstraction. Drawing on memory, seasonal change, and the natural world, her work explores both external environments and internal states. She works predominantly with Unison Colour pastels, with Northumberland’s landscape continuing to inform her palette and process.
