Bernadette Keily

Biography

Bernadette Kiely is a visual artist based on the quayside of the River Nore in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Her practice is widely recognised for its powerful depictions of the fragility of the natural and physical world, often rooted in lived experience and close observation of environmental change.

Kiely draws significantly on her upbringing in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary, where she grew up beside the river and witnessed repeated flood events. These early experiences have continued to shape her perspective, deepening through her adult life living and working along the River Nore in Kilkenny, where flooding remains a persistent presence.
