Biography

Katharine Le Hardy is a British artist whose atmospheric landscape paintings are shaped by a deeply personal relationship with place, memory, and lived experience. Working from her studio in the Surrey Hills, she creates large-scale oil paintings that invite viewers into immersive, contemplative spaces where the natural world becomes a vehicle for emotion and reflection.

 

Le Hardy’s practice has been informed by a life spent in varied landscapes. She grew up in rural Dorset before going on to study in Bristol, and later spent nearly two decades living and working in London. A subsequent move to the Surrey and Hampshire border marked a significant shift in her practice, strengthening her connection to the natural environment and bringing a renewed sense of energy, depth, and authenticity to her work.
