Carrie Lees
Carrie Lees is a British printmaker and fine art photographer trained at St Martin’s and the Black and White School of Photography, where she developed a strong foundation in traditional photographic and darkroom printing techniques. Her early practice focused on producing exhibition-quality work rooted in a deep understanding of analogue processes.
Her landscape and travel photography has been exhibited in group shows and featured in various Condé Nast publications. Over time, Lees established a successful career as a portrait photographer, developing a distinctive approach that emphasised the manipulation of natural light to create timeless, atmospheric images. Her prints are produced using museum-quality papers, reflecting a commitment to material integrity and craft.
In recent years, Lees has expanded her practice to include botanical work, applying the same refined techniques to create photographic “portraits” of plants. Drawn to the beauty and fragility of the natural world, she seeks to capture the essential character and structural elegance of her subjects through simple, considered compositions.
