Rebecca Boyd Allen
Rebecca Boyd Allen (b.1965) Rebecca is from Norton, Kansas, USA. She studied painting at the New York Studio School in the late 1980's and received a scholarship in 1990 to represent the Studio School as an exchange student at the Slade in London. While there, she met many fantastic artists and also spent a lot of time drawing in wonderful museums and galleries in London. Early Renaissance works, in particular, had a big influence on her early work and an interest in working from memory. Following her return to New York, she was awarded a Helena Rubinstein Scholarship by Parsons School of Design and completed an MFA in painting from Parsons in 1993. She has lived and worked in London for over 30 years, teaching painting at City Lit and Dulwich Picture Gallery as well as working as a freelance artist for Winsor Newton. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Royal Watercolour Society Open and other group exhibitions in London. Over the past decade, she has focused on watercolour as a medium to explore various themes with an interest in the environment and the visual dialogues between natural and man-made forms.
