Kate Rhodes
Kate Rhodes is a painter whose work moves fluidly between representation and abstraction, rooted in the natural world yet reaching beyond it into a more intuitive, emotional terrain. Her practice explores what she describes as “Soulscapes” — landscapes from within, shaped as much by memory, play, and feeling as by direct observation.
Rhodes trained at Edinburgh College of Art, where she spent four formative years developing both the discipline and joy of drawing, alongside an early freedom to experiment with paint. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship term at the École des Beaux-Arts in Strasbourg, an experience that further enriched her visual language. She graduated in 1989 with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting.
